Bringing together friends, family, and the many business associates Rick Sharp developed over a long and successful career, the Foundation was founded to fund a cure for the disease that killed its namesake. Since its inception in 2015, The Foundation has raised over $2 million. Thanks to the network of ever-growing supporters, the Foundation has been able to donate every penny raised to research that will lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.

GOALS

As the long-time CEO of Circuit City, founding investor and CEO of shoewear behemoth CROCS, and founder and CEO of used car superstore CarMax, Rick Sharp cultivated a wide range of impressive business contacts. Upon his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, he expanded that network to include the top researchers at institutions like Johns Hopkins and the University of Virginia.

In addition to developing a fact-filled website for his namesake Foundation, we’ve spearheaded the marketing and execution of a series of annual events that both raise funds for research and bring those top researchers to Virginia.

Their annual “Alzheimer’s Day in RVA” – has included charity golf tournaments, fashion shows interspliced with talks by best-selling authors and world-class scientific experts. 2020 and the coronavirus presented a unique challenge, and we were able to pivot from a 600+ in-person event to a virtual format, featuring more leading doctors and scientists and a presentation from the world renowned Deepak Chopra.

STRATEGY

“Alzheimer’s Day in RVA” has become a crucial fundraiser for the Rick Sharp Alzheimer’s Foundation. As 2020 extinguished the expectation of an in-person event, we used the history of the Foundation, their exceptional results at funding research, and the ground-breaking doctors and scientists enlisted as panelists to create excitement about 2020’s virtual forum. While many felt as if their lives were on pause, we made certain that the Rick Sharp Alzheimer’s Foundation mission of finding a cure would continue to live vigorously.
