Atrium

Planet Atrium
JSA Technologies has been the leading provider of mobile payment and account management on campuses and institutions for over 15 years. They are re-imagining the traditional campus card system with Atrium, a new product that will disrupt a bloated and proprietary industry.

Atrium was a concept without a name or face. Campus card systems are massive things; part identity, part debit, part room key, and more. In other words: a beast. The branding and creation of Atrium would have to reflect strength and security, but impart something that was revolutionary and easy to use.
Mission:Wave a Magic Wand and Slay Dragons
Based on feedback from a JSA advisory board and conversations with actual administrators, we began brainstorming a name for the new ecosytem. An “atrium” is an open space in the middle of a large building, but also a chamber of the heart, helping to regulate the flow of blood. Voila! A logo was created that conveyed the message of Atrium with a single image, much like the Nike swoosh, or Apple’s iconic symbol. It was further reinforced with design and font choices that said, “Easy, powerful, and modern.”
The design of the website reflects Atrium as a product: revolutionary, modular, scalable, and above all, easy. Site architecture and content tell you enough about the product to pique your interest, and offer some tantalizing details of its functionality, but not enough to give away the ending. Navigation entices the viewer to “discover more”.
The site is scalable and accessible using any browser and most devices, including smartphones and tablets.
In addition to traditional business cards and letterhead, we designed a brochure and a clever “invitation” to a surprise launch taking place at a national trade show. Clean and clear with a die-cut logo, it teased, “What would you create?” and invited the bearer to “an exclusive demonstration” without saying what the final product would entail.
The NACCU Conference is an annual gathering of system providers, directors, and campus administrators. The biggest providers set up massive booths with displays covering every service and configuration possible.
We designed the Atrium booth to reflect the brand and eventual product: Easy, powerful, and modern. Simple banners invited shoppers in and several computers invited them to sit down and take a test drive of a simulated user interface. Visitors were even offered custom Atrium candy bars for snacking!
We're not done yet!
Working in partnership with JSA Technologies and V4 Development, we created a fully fleshed out version of Atrium. Our intuitive user interface creates a seamless experience for administrators and students. Today’s iGeneration is now able to manage their accounts and services with a point and click. The first campus went live in late 2012, and we're continuing to add more universities in 2013.
